The reasons for getting involved in gardening are various. Many residential properties in Central Hove do not have access to personal green spaces, often residents live in apartments without access to outside space. Joining a gardening group is a great way for keen gardeners or novices to have an impact on their local environment while making new friends in the local community.
PAG was formed to unite residents to get involved in the upkeep of our historic gardens. The parkland offers the community a vital escape into pleasant surroundings. The sweeping vistas across Palmeira Square and Adelaide Crescent, leading down to the beach, are a haven for family, friends or individuals wanting a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Surrounded by Grade 2 listed buildings and nearby shops and boutiques, it’s the perfect place for a picnic or just to grab a few minutes of solitude, while still being accessible to the beach and local transport links.
Gardening is not just good for the environment, it’s good for your health and well-being.
We hold regular garden meet-ups to tackle weekly duties including weeding, digging, cleaning, clearing and planting. We are always looking for more volunteers so please get in touch.
PAG Fund holds monthly clean and clear operations in the gardens of Palmeira Square and Adelaide Crescent, Hove. Our Facebook and Instagram pages contain up-to-date information. If you would like to join our team for CLEAN AND CLEAR or for any other activities then contact us by email.
PAG has a trusted and collaborative relationship with Brighton and Hove City Council. Our remit is to ensure that our garden volunteers are properly informed, led by a Council-approved lead volunteer, to work alongside the existing plans and guidelines of the local authority. With close links to City Parks and City Clean, we aim to ensure our gardening activity is transparent and in line with council policy.
